Once harvested from clogging the rivers of southeast Asia, the tendrils of the water-hyacinth plant dry in the sun to a kind of golden brown. Further treatment blanches them to a creamy white that we used to create the bold contrasting stripe pattern in this rug. The hollow-cored water-hyacinth twine has a natural give under foot that makes for pleasant walking in bare feet.
